Our Story

It All Started With a Padlock on a Fridge.

Scott Jarred grew up in Indianapolis after his parents split when he was in kindergarten. A family of five became a poorer family of four overnight. His father left and left no financial support behind. They moved from an apartment into Section 8 housing. Food stamps. Survival mode.

His mom worked multiple waitressing jobs and still couldn't make it stretch. The refrigerator had a padlock on it so the kids wouldn't eat without her permission because there wasn't enough to spare. Scott was left home at 7 or 8 years old to watch his younger brother and sister, both still in diapers, with strict instructions never to open the front door. Outside was drugs, gangs, and danger. Inside was all they had.

He grew up hiding, poor, and afraid.

But here's what poverty couldn't take from him: the drive to understand why and the determination to change it.

Our Story

He Earned His Way Out — One Opportunity at a Time

Scott's first real break came in the form of a football scholarship — a full ride to college, the first in his family to go. He didn't waste a single credit hour. Economics. Entrepreneurship. Architecture. Urban planning. He absorbed everything he could, earned his master's degree in technology, and landed a position as a tech consultant for AT&T.

For the first time in his life, he had money.

But money without meaning wasn't enough. He wanted to help people — not just process transactions. He wanted to do for others what no one had ever done for his family: give them a real financial plan, a real future, a real shot at abundance.

So he made a pivot that would define the next two decades of his life.

Our Story

He Reached the Pinnacle. And Found the Industry Broken.

By his late 30s, Scott had become one of the most successful wealth advisors in the country — Top 10 in his firm multiple years running. Along the way, he had sat across the table from family offices, professional sports team owners, and billionaires. He had learned firsthand how the truly wealthy manage money — the strategies, the structures, the thinking that most people never get access to.

He had made it.

But something was wrong.

As an affiliate of a broker-dealer, Scott was contractually bound to be a salesperson — not an advisor. The industry, he had come to realize, wasn't built for the client. It was built for the product. Advisors were incentivized to push solutions, not to sit with a person and understand their life, their fears, their goals, their family.

That wasn't why he got into this.

That wasn't the promise he had made to himself as that kid in Section 8 housing, watching his mother lock up the refrigerator so there'd be enough food for tomorrow.

So He Walked Away From the Machine — and Built Something Better.

In June 2016, Scott founded INVST alongside his partner Lloyd Easters. No more broker-dealer obligations. No more product quotas. No more divided loyalties.

Just two people with a shared conviction: that every client deserves a true fiduciary — someone legally, ethically, and personally committed to acting in their best interest. Always.

INVST was built on three pillars that have never wavered:
