Get to know Katie

What motivates you everyday?

Taking care of people—both in my personal life and professionally—is important to me. Being dependable, showing up for others, and knowing I can make someone's day a little easier is what drives me every day.

If you could instantly master one skill, what would it be?

I'd love to be good at golf. I'm definitely not good, but I love the social aspect and being outdoors. If I could magically play well, it would make the whole experience even more enjoyable.

What is a career "low point" that actually set you up for success?

I went through a period during the recession where I was afraid of losing my job and felt a lot of uncertainty about the future. That fear pushed me to shift my mindset and focus on what I could control — things like improving processes, asking more questions, and taking more ownership. Looking back, that challenging time ended up making me more resourceful, thoughtful, and intentional in how I show up at work.

What piece of advice would you give your younger self?

To be more confident. You've got good instincts—stop overthinking everything and trust yourself a little more. Half the things you're worried about won't even matter, and the other half you're totally capable of handling.

Fun Fact

My first job was detasseling corn—way out in the middle of nowhere, long before anyone had a cell phone. It was hot, buggy, and a ton of hard work, but nothing builds character like being stranded in a cornfield.
